Our history
The Home for Love and Protection of Children began operations in January 1992 with only ten children in the so-called Headquarters; Since that date, it has been growing rapidly, to such an extent that it currently serves 190 children in 12 houses: One in Puebla, two in Jalisco: La Esperanza and Cd. Guzmán and the rest in Cd. from Colima.
The growth of this Home has occurred based on needs, on the one hand, due to the growing number of applications for admission; and on the other, to the convenience of grouping children and adolescents by age and sex, and to provide them with specialized care, according to the stage of development in which they are.
Having our own spaces has helped guarantee the permanence and continuity of the services provided. The economic resources, both for the construction, maintenance and operation of the different houses, come mainly from contributions from natural and legal persons, both national and foreign, government agencies, foundations and financing projects.
On a different level, there are also the Home for the Training of Young Ladies “Casa Belén”, and the Home for the Training of Men “Only for Brave”, both for adults and young people in complicated situations in their stage of life. For the operation and administration of the different houses, there are 35 staff employees on average, as well as a permanent group of volunteers, who, moved by the love of God, are the pillars of the success achieved so far.
About us?
The houses in Colima are distributed as follows: The nursery cares for 22 children from 0 to 6 years old. From there they go to the Headquarters. It is the main and most visited house. This house houses around 35 boys and girls between 6 and 12 years old, during their primary education. At the end of this, we distribute the boys between our two houses for teenagers, called Ventura and Unrau, and the girls in the Señoritas house. In these houses they have the opportunity to stay until they finish a profession. In the case of the Ladies, we offer a student house, so that they can become independent and study their degree. We also have three smaller houses with a family atmosphere, which house a maximum of 15 children.
We do not ask for support from the families of those sheltered. We rarely receive government support.
Each house is operated by a couple. Several workers and volunteers support daily care.
Mission
The Home of Love and Protection of Children was born with all the desire to be able to help orphaned, destitute or abused children, who could be given all the support and attention that they would have in a real home, both in material and emotional needs. and spiritual. This is why the mission of Casa Hogar is to provide love and protection to children who, due to various circumstances, lack a home, providing them with food, clothing, housing, education, psycho-pedagogical, medical and social work support, seeking personal fulfillment and development, in a healthy environment according to their age.
Vision
The vision of the Home of Love and Protection is the training of men and women who develop fully and can reintegrate into their families and/or society in the future. Promoting love of God and neighbor and developing moral principles in their lives so that they can be useful to society and form a generation of people who are willing to change their environment in favor of others. This is why the care provided will be with the purpose of being a life model and example of how a family should develop, providing each member with love, respect and acceptance towards others; starting by accepting themselves and contributing to a balanced self-esteem in order to also be able to value the people around them.
